i have my last interview this week for a sales position, now i have the technical knowledge of what i’m selling but no sales experience(this is what they wanted).i’ve now been asked to make a short 5 -10 min presentation based around the following statement….."if succesful in gaining the position, how will you make the role a success for both yourself and company" any pointers or advice on what they are looking for would be most welcome

A couple of pointers

First make sure that you have read these articles
Essential Presentation Skills (http://www.presentationhelper.co.uk/Essential_Presentation_skills.htm)

As regards what to present I would suggest that you concentrate on your skills- particularly your technical skills. Here are three things that I would do
Here are a few ideas.

1. Call up all of your allocated customers – if you have been given any accounts in the past – and arrange to meet with them as their new account manager. If you don’t have any customers then this will need to be replaced with some cold calling.

2. Meet up with your customers.. Get to understand their business and how your rodcuts and services could hekp to benefit them.

3. Build the relationship with the customer – based on your techical knowledge andyour understanding of the customer. Use this to help to sell your products and services to the customer.

Make sure that you refer back to things that you have done in the past – particularly in the past. Include any feedback that cutomers have given you

If you are looking to improve your sales skills it may be worth subscribing to our sister site Sales Magazine (http://www.salesmagazine.com) It is free to subscribe to the ezine and it is due to launch in September

I hope that this helps

I think that the same would likely apply – but you would need to change customers to prospective customers
