Successful Interview Presentation Tips

I have to make a presentation for a position I qualified for. I am running for Subject Matter Expert, answering to Training Specialist. My interview consists of a 20 minute presentation on my choosing. I have two in the room, and 2 -20 over the phone at head office. I have no idea what to talk about; I can't make it too visual since most cannot see me. Any ideas? Thanks a million.

Thanks for the message

The best ideas for topics are

- Something you are passionate about
- Something ideally that is work related
- Something that was very successful

If you can combine all three together this can work well. A great idea would be a project at work where you succeeded and were well recognized for. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to get things done as well as your ability to present. If you can, include snippets of the positive feedback that you received.

As regards visuals - still use them. You can send PowerPoint slides across by email (or better if you can do hard copies by post). Make sure that you add in big page numbers and when going through the presentation make sure that at the end of each slide you say - "now turn to slide 8" etc

It is very difficult to just listen to a presentation over the phone - without any visual support. I know as a former company director I've sat through enough conference calls in my time.

I hope that this helps.

If you need any more info drop me a line - it may take a while to respond - and please let me know how it goes.

Well the VCR Life Method was a big hit.
PLAY=You must enjoy yourself and your life, play a game, read a book, play with the kids.
STOP=Life can become overwhelming and sometimes you just need to stop and relax.
REWIND=Look at the past and what has been accomplished since then.
FAST FORWARD=Look to the future and view the big picture.
PAUSE=Enjoy the things you do, don't just keep on going towards the big picture, you need to stop and realize your accomplishments thus far.
Life is like a VCR, you must put something into it before you get anything out.

The reason this was a big hit was because the company I work for started out with a VCR and in the corporate office locked up in display is the first VCR.

I added little things like never think you can't do it. Arnold Schwarzenegger is Governor and people have been to the moon. Anyways I'm sooo soooo excited, I will keep in touch. Thanks again.

What is an adaption period?

I gues that it is the time that it takes you to adapt, but i'm not sure what you are adapting to.

Any extra detail that you could shed onthe subject would be most useful

Thanks
