Job Interview - 7 minute presentation

Hi I have an Interview the week after next. I am applying for an IT related Job Role and this looks like the perfect place for help! I have to create a Powerpoint presentation that lasts no longer than 7 minutes. All i have to do is explain how I would go about installing some IT equipment, what approach I would take etc

I have noted down everything I want to say in the presentation but I would like some help on:
Choice of colour?
Images?
How many slides?
Animations?
How I can make it stand out from the rest?

Choice of colour?
The best colour background to use is one that has blues in it. Use a contrasting text like white or yellow. Blue is a safe colour for an interview.

If you want to print it out use a white background with black or dark blue text.

Images?
Definately. A presentation using images is twice as likely to succeed as one using bullet points.

How many slides?
I would suggest around 7 slides. If you are showing mainly pictures you could do more. The key is to rehearse using your script and a stop watch. This will tell you if you can get the message across in seven minutes.

Animations?
Usually better to avoid. There are some animations that work (wipe, fade and box out) but there are a lot that can look irritating - particularly in a job interview.

How I can make it stand out from the rest?
Go for the best images that you can.

If you are stuck for images there are a number of good photo libraries.
