Inserting an arrow as text?

Hi guys, how do you insert an up arrow in the same style as the font you are using. I can do it with autoshapes, but I'm looking for something that isn't "added" to the line, but is simply another character. Used to be able to do it using ASCII codes with SMART documents, but that was a long time ago! Any help would be appreciated.

Anywhere you are entering text, just type in --> and hit the space bar. This should do the trick!
