Presentation: Specific Question to be answered

Hello to Doctor and all,

First of all let me congratulate you on a great site, very informative. My name is Simon, i recently got through to a second interview on 4th August 2005 for a company called World Roam and have been asked to do a 15 minute presentation on the following subject; 'Outline how you would generate new business opportunities detailing approach plus possible target markets'

The company is a multinational company which specialises in mobile telecommunication products such as mobile phones, satellite phones, blackberry's, data cards and gsm/tracker systems. My potential role will be Area sales manager looking after Es , East Anglia and parts of London. I will be responsible for generating leads with a view to bringing on board new business.

I have plenty of general sales experience however i have never done B2B. I have been researching madly into the sector and am slowly gathering enough info. My real question is how i should structure the presentation i have PowerPoint 2003 at home and access to a computer and plasma screen on the day. I would like to make the presentation as interesting and vibrant as possible. Any information or advice on any part of the presentation including content, structure and delivery would be greatly appreciated.

Yours Thankfully

Simon Collins

Simon

Sorry about the delay, but I am currently away on holiday.

I would suggest that you start with reading the article on Essential Presentation Skills

You will then see the need to structure the presentation into three key messages and use pictures in PowerPoint to use visuals to make these messages as memorable as you can.

I would suggest that you ask in advance what material - projector etc is available for you and also if it is possible to get access to set up the presentation room prior to the interview. I would also suggest that you print out a number of copies of your presentation - in case the technology fails.

As for the B2B sector - I would not over worry about it. The key difference is that it is just more difficult to get the leads interested and that the sales cycles are longer. As a sales manager you would be expected to be on top of your forecasts.

Good luck and I hope that things go well.

I think that this one would be quite straight forward. You are unlikely to fall into a trap. The big question they would ask at the end will be "if you were involved in this situation - how would you make it better"

This then gives you a chance to show off your customer service skills

Good luck!
