For speaking

Don't worry about the number of words. Just practice out loud at least four times, best is in front of a mirror - once in front of a real audience (family, friends, colleagues) etc. Time yourself.

On slides.

We read on slides at about 100 words per minute (compared to 250 words per minute in a book). Best practice is to use up to 25 words per slide (and use pictures). Remember that when the audience is reading a presentation they are not listening to what you are saying. Best to use pictures where you can.

I hope that this helps

Kind regards

I had to give a 3 minute speech at my mother's funeral - I worked on around 150 words per minute.

I timed myself and delivered 430 words in 2 minutes 50 seconds, so it was not too far out
