Me and Sales Presentation

Hi,

I have a question on how best to give the following 5 minute presentation on "Me and Sales", for an interview I have with Friends Provident. They are a big financial institution and the job is as an IFA Account Manager and is something I really want to do. Its a full day assessment and I'm confident about everything else except this presentation.

We are only allowed a flipchart and a marker pen and my idea is simple, to start the presentation and discuss that sales isn't for everyone and go into what skills are needed, for example, "Adaptability, confidence, belief, being able to read people, hunger to succeed to targets, achieve goals" etc.

My aim is to write Sales on the flipchart and basically continue it as a spider diagram. I will draw a line and write, "Belief" and then talk about what I mean. I really think that as they have asked for no powerpoint or other aids, they are looking for it to be simple but informative and is the chance to show "yourself" and sell yourself rather than showing how clever you are with aids. Anyone had any experience of this? What do you think of the idea? The one worry I have is that I don't want to use cards etc, I want to show I know what I am talking about but I worry I may either waffle too much or forget when I get there infrongt of the panel!!

Sales skills

Hi there, I think you need to focus more on what you could bring to the organisation. Why should the IFA buy from you and not a competitor? What can you offer her/him? You would be the face of Friends Provident and so the IFA needs to like you and believe you know your stuff. Sell yourself, rather than what sales means. Build confidence in the IFA that you are someone they would want to put their business with.

I hope this helps.

Similar idea

but instead of a spidergram, we would recommend that you did it using the Sales Process... step by step. That way it's more structured and you're less likely to go of an a random tangent, talk for too long etc.

If you had a product to sell, the presentation would be no problem to you.

You do have a product to sell ... you.

Use the presentation to sell yourself. It doesn't matter what the product is, people are going to buy it because you are telling them they need it and can't do without it, and they trust you.

The company need you, and can't do (as well) without you. Your product (you) is a far superior product to any other product being put before them.

If fact, for the money they are going to pay you, and the benefit they are going to receive, they are getting a bargain.

They can't afford to let you go and work for their rival.

Sell yourself. It's the best product they are ever going to see.
