criteria for images
Each year, I produce a PowerPoint presentation for my art organization. What specific criteria for the images should I require for those who send cds to me with their images? I receive about 40 cds with 4 images on each.
I have been told that images should be submitted as JPEG (max quality), 355 dpi or 1200 bitmap. This doesn’t seem necessary as they will be about 95dpi in the presentation. |

I would agree with you.
For presentation (Powerpoint) work JPEG, GIF or PNG at 300 dpi or 96 dpi or 75 dpi is usually fine. I would personally specify for people to check that they double check that they are happy with the image quality before sending in. The biggest problem is likely to be rasterised text as you scale the image down in size. I would suggest that you do the scaling down in Photoshop rather than PowerPoint as you can optimise the compression settings. Generally though Graphic designers tend to use te highest resolution, so that they can scale down images to the smallest size with the lowest loss in quality – which is why 300 dpi is usually asked for. Does this help? |
