Interview for Child Protection post

Hi,

I have never ever given a presentation as part of a job interview before, but am being asked to do just that for a job I would love to get.

They have asked that I prepare a 10 minute presentation on a piece of work I have undertaken with a child, interventions made and any theory undepinning the work.

The problem is that I have limited experience in this type of work so was delighted to be called for interview. The problem is I don’t see how I can use any visuals for such a presentation. I can only think of one example of a child with whom I worked in a therapeutic capacity.

How on earth can I present this piece of work?

Have never done this before am very anxious and would be most grateful for any advice and suggestions. Really want the job!

In a situation like this it can be hard to get visuals – ie photographs of children, but there are many other ways to make the presentation visual.

Children’s charities like the NSPCC have image libraries that you may, if you obtrain their permission be able to use. An example is at http://www.nspcc.org.uk/html/home/newsandcampaigns/artwork.htm

The alternaive is to use visuals that help to carry emotions. For example the Children in Need campaign uses a teddy bear with a red spotted handkerchief.

Without being more specific on the thoughts that you would like to convey it is difficult to suggest appropriate imagery
