![]() I just got work editing powerpoint presentations by email. Problem: received PPP as a 7.4 meg attachment. Edited it (40 comments boxes on 50 slides and notes) and found it had increased to 13.8 meg!!! Even zipped it was 12.6meg, knocked up to 17 meg when converted to email attachment, and hence too big to send.
Does this always happen? Why's it so huge in the first place? And why's it almost doubled in size after a few comments? This is urgent. I can't send, hence can't earn my living. Any help? |

![]() I dont know why that is, but you can use NXPlite to compress your PPT files significantly.

Why are my PowerPoint files so big? What can I do about it? http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00062.htm Particular about "fast saves" and "review features" Cheers |

![]() I have had the same problem, and apparently it is due to the way the PowerPoint saves changes - it appends them to the end of the file. The way to get around this is to save it as a different file name. i think you'll find the size drops dramatically.
Good luck! |

![]() As TAJ suggests the easiest way to keep the file size down is to remove fast saves. To do a fast save PowerPoint just adds the changes onto the back of the last save - increasing the file size.
Tools > Options > Save > and uncheck the box Allow Fast Saves I can also vouch for the NXP Lite software. I have used it for the fast 4 years. I used it this morning to reduce a file down from 7mB to 1.3MB so that someone could review a presentation at a trade show on a dial up line. You just have to be careful not to over compress as the picture size then becomes grainy. |
