Question Headmasters Retirement

My old Headmaster is retiring after over 20 years. I started the same junior school when I was 7 and he joined as Headmaster about 6 months later. I am now a Governor for the same school and a Parish Councillor for the village so it has fallen to me to make his retirement speech.

I have no idea where to start as it was so long since I was at school remembering things that happened just isn't happening. I know he's a great fan of a local football team and generally very big on physical education. He did however tell me one of the highlights of his career was when I won a competition on a VERY well know children's TV programme.

I want to make a really memorable but amusing speech that will show everyone what a fine role model he has been.

Any tips would be greatly recieved

Try to make every one listening feel as though they get to see the 'real' headmaster. It's very easy to make it sound too personal, as though you're the only person who has known him all that time. Ask around for ideas and other memories.

We have added a couple of retirement speech samples onto the main Presentation Helper pages. They are geared up for a retiring executive but could be modified.
