Sounds like fun.
The real secret is to keep it short and upbeat - so that people can enjoy the rest of the party.
Start by saying that it is amazing how gfast she has grown up and now it is her 21st birthday.
Tell a couple of memories of some of the time that you have spent together - particualry as she was growing up.
End by saying that you would like to propose a toast.
After the toast - make a point of saying thankj you and telling everyone to carry on with the festivities - otherwise people will stand around waiting for the next thing to happen. (The alternative is that your childhood friend may want to make a speech)
