padding it out!

hi first of all i’d like to thank you for your advice last month as it helped me get on the course. i now have to give the presentation again to more people but make it last 15 minutes. when i first gave the the presentation it lasted about 4 to 5 minutes (so nervous i raced through it) which really isn’t enough. please if you could find the time give me some pointers.
Once again thank you very much and i look forward to hearing from you.

Wonderful news to know that we have been of help.

It’s not really a question of padding it out, more a question of enhancing it with additional material.

What you may be lacking is stories or anecdotes that help to convey the message. Please remind me of the topic and I may be able to give some pointers.

What you may have lacked is practice in front of a real audience or video camera/ tape recorder. If you have written down your speech you would be able to know how many words you have used and how fast you speak.

Finally don’t over worry about filling up the full 15 minutes. No one ever complained of a speech being too short! As long as you are over 11 minutes you should be OK. (You may need to watch though as some lecturers do time you to make sure that it is not too short – a mistake in my view as I have sat through many boring lectures!)
