Timeout function

Hi, I am creating a powerpoint presentation that is designed to be displayed in a touchscreen kiosk. Rather than being an automated slideshow, it is an interactive presentation designed to be navigated through by the user. What I want is some method of making it so that if the slideshow is abandoned on a slide by a user, after a certain amount of time the presentation will return to the title slide.

Thank you
AW

I don’t think that this is possible in the way that you describe.

The best alternative would be to set each slide to move on after a period of time, say one minute, to the next slide. This is achieved by using a slide on a slide transition (Slide Show> Slide Transition > Advance Slide> Automatically after > 1:00 (for one minute)

You can also make the presentation loop around.

Slide Show > Set Up Show > Loop continuously .

If you make the menu slide so that it does not advance automatically then the presentation will stop on the menu slide. You could also have a copy of the end slide at the end of each section.

I think that this is about as good as you will be able to get PowerPoint to work.

I hope that this helps

alwrighto,

On powerpoint versions 97 and 2000

If you set the presentation to "kiosk mode" (slideshow menu > set up show > kiosk), then after 5 minutes of inactivity, the slideshow will re-start automatically.

Unfortunately there’s a bug in later versions of powerpoint , that stops this from working.

Cheers
