Powerpoint file looks different on someone elses computer

I apologize if this question has already been asked. I have a PowerPoint file, on my computer all the text looks great everything is lined up. I send it to someone else and when that same file is shown on their computer with their version of PowerPoint some of the text is no longer lined up and some text boxes have moved. It’s not on every page, but certainly on enough pages to destroy the professionalism of the presentation. I often have to give presentations on someone else’s computer and it’s not always possible to test the presentation before hand. Is there a way to make sure that what I see on my PowerPoint file will be the same as on someone else’s? Is the only way to cut and paste all my text and text boxes into pictures?

Thanks

Neil

Hello,

One thing you might try if you dont use any animations in your presentation is to take a screen picture of every slide than create another presentation and put your screenshots on the slides. This way, your new presentation only shows pictures of screenshots and those can't be modified by PPT in any way (plus, your audience cannont see the difference).

Hopes this helps...

Neilbag,

Chances are, this is font related.

If you have text on your presentation in the font called 'obscure name bold', and the PC you play back your presentation has only the font called 'arial', then font substitution will take place, hence things will look different (line breaks will change etc). So stick to 'standard/common' fonts

The other reason why things might change is:
DO NOT USE SPACES to make things line up, USE TABS and the RULE instead.

Cheers
