Is PPT 2002/03/XP glitchier than 2000?
I cannot believe how much more difficult MS seemed to make these later versions to work with as compared to 2000. The only thing I've found that I really like better in these later versions is the Smooth Fade transition. If 2000 had this I wouldn't bother with these so-called upgrades. Why? The handling of WMV files. I have to show rendered motion titles, etc. that are great to save in WMV 640x 480 size as they hold their resolution very well and produce a miniscule file size as compared to the same size, uncompressed avi file. PPT 2002/03 will allow importing of WMV files, but won't begin playing them right away....sometimes delaying the start of the motion up to 15 secs!!!!....or not at all!!! And we all know that PPT is all about timing in the presentation. How could an upgraded version of a program behave worse??? It's amazing!
So one question I have is: can you somehow integrate a new transition, like the smooth fade, into PPT 2000? Is there a certain file type that I can simply bring over from PPT (crappy) upgrade versions? |

There is no way to bring the fade into the old versions of PowerPoint. As a PowerPoint designer this has caused me no end of problems.
It is getting easier now as more people have PowerPoint 2003. I usually end up turning off the new animation effects Tools > Options > Edit > Disable New Features > New animation effects. This gives you the old animation menu and you then know that everything works OK. The alternative is to send the presentation along with a link to the PowerPoint Viewer 2003. PowerPoint Viewer 2003 lets you view full-featured presentations created in PowerPoint 97 and later versions. You can download it on the following link http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en I hope this helps |

I agree with your thoughts about about impoting videos. I use an external program Presentation to Video Converter for such purposes. Only this way the problem can be solved.
Unfortunately I think it's impossible to upgread 2000 version by integrating the Smooth Fade... But there is an opportunity to make up the deficiencies by using helping programs... |
