Importing linked data from Excel

Can you help?? I am trying to import data from Microsoft Excel in order to produce a chart in Powerpoint. I import the data using the Icon, which is fine but if I change the data in the linked Excel document, a new column is inserted into the Powerpoint Datasheet. The hearder of the new column is 3-D Column and the content of the column is a duplicate of the data in the first column of the Excel data. Any ideas??

A quick alternative would be to cut and paste the graph from excel straight into powerpoint. It wouldn't update straight away, but it may provide a quick solution to the problem.

Building charts in Excel is always much easier then in PowerPoint. After the initial build, I always change a few things such as legend labels or axis labels and doing it all in Excel is better. Then after you get the chart just right you can copy it over to PowerPoint. There's a great tool for copying data and charts from Excel to PowerPoint at [url]www.xpport.com[/url]. It works if the chart is part of your data sheet or on a dedicated chart sheet. It auto sizes Excel data and charts to fit in the body area as defined on the PowerPoint slide master which is great because I'm always making the title area and the margins just a little smaller.
